Returns and Exchanges:
If you are not completely satisfied with an item you purchased, you may return it within 30 days along with your receipt, in the original packing materials if possible. Returned items must be in saleable condition. We will be happy to provide an exchange or refund as you wish. Please note that we cannot refund shipping or gift-wrapping fees.

UPS 3 Day Select: add $5 to ground charge
UPS 2nd Day Air: add $10 to ground charge
UPS Next Day Air: add $30 ground charge
UPS Shipping times do not include the day of pick-up. This means that Next Day Air shipments will arrive in three business days, 2nd Day Air shipments arrive in four business days, and 3 Day Select shipments arrive in five business days. Additional time may be required during the holiday season: please see above.
A street address is required for all UPS shipments.

"Ground" shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and APO deliveries will be sent via USPS Insured Priority Mail.
There is no 3 Day Select to Alaska, Hawaii and APO. If you choose it we will charge you the ground shipping rate and send your order via USPS Priority Mail, as we do for Ground Shipments.

Orders shipping to the rest of the world
International orders are charged a flat rate for shipping, based on the cost of the merchandise. All orders will be shipped by your choice of insured International Express Mail, which the Postal Service estimates will take 5-7 days for delivery, or International Priority Mail which will be delivered in about 7-12 days from the date of the order. Oversized items such as The Reading Room Lamps do not qualify for the flat rate and are too large to ship internationally via USPS. We will calculate the actual shipping costs and contact you for approval before filling the order.
Please Note: The Postal Service does place restrictions on international shipping of certain items such as gold and jewelry. These items may need to be sent via Registered Airmail Letter Post, or other methods as determined by the US Postal Service. We must comply with their shipping restrictions and will inform you if an alternate shipping method is required.
There is no Next Day Air, Second Day Air or any other faster shipping method for International Orders.

About Library Shop gift certificates
Library Shop gift certificates are valid for one year from the date of notification messages, and can be used for any merchandise in the Library Shop. They cannot be used towards the purchase of NYPL Memberships, lecture tickets or other Library Services or the purchase of other gift certificates.
Be sure to keep a copy of your gift certificate redemption code in order to use it online. Please remember that this code is freely transferable, so you should protect it as if it were money.
To use your gift certificate at The Library Shop, enter your gift certificate code in the appropriate box at checkout.
If you have received more than one gift certificate for The Library Shop, you can enter multiple codes separated by commas. If the amount of the Gift Certificate covers the cost of your order, it isn’t necessary to enter your credit card information. However, if the gift certificate amount is less than the entire order, then the remaining balance must be paid by credit card.
Your gift certificate can be used at our shop in the NYPL Humanities and Social Sciences Library in Manhattan. All of the same conditions and limitations that apply on line also apply to gift certificates use in our Manhattan shop.
Friends' and Corporate Members' Discounts
Friends of The New York Public Library receive a 10% discount on all purchases excluding gift certificates, gift wrapping and shipping charges. Employees of the Library’s Corporate Member companies receive the same discount with the same limitations.
